Step by Step Measurement

Follow your doctor's advice on how and when to take your blood pressure. Otherwise, here are some important hints. It's easy to keep a check on your blood pressure with a digital blood pressure monitor from Samsung!

Using The Pointer

Your Samsung monitor includes a pointer pen for quick and easy operation of the digital touch screen display. Simply point and lightly touch the pen's tip at the function you'd like the monitor to perform. Should you misplace the pointer pen, the touch screen will respond to any pointed object, such as your finger.
Caution: When selecting a function always lightly touch the display panel. Never forcefully push the pointer or any other object on the touch screen. Doing this may result in damage to the display panel.
Selecting the Time and Date

Your Samsung monitor will keep track of the time, month, and day unless the batteries have run low or were removed from the monitor.

To set the time simply use the pointer (or other pointed object) to press the mode button. The month will begin to flash. Press the set button until the correct month appears on the display, then press the mode button to store. Follow this same process to set the day and time.

Before Taking A Measurement

1. Sit quietly for about 10 minutes without talking or moving. This will allow your body to return to its normal, resting state.

2. Wait 30-45 minutes before taking a measurement if you've consumed any caffeinated beverages or smoked any cigarettes or cigars.

3. For consistency, try to take your blood pressure using the same wrist, we suggest the left.

4. Sit with your legs uncrossed and your feet flat on the floor. Do not touch the cuff or monitor while measuring.

5. Wait at least 3 minutes in between measurements.
Applying The Cuff

1. Make sure you are not wearing a thick coat or a sweater. If you're wearing a long sleeved shirt, roll up the sleeve so it's not constricting circulation to your arm.

2. Wrap the cuff around your wrist making sure that it's not too tight.

3. Lie your arm flat on a table with your palm facing upwards with the monitor facing you. Hold the wrist cuff so it's at the same level as your heart.
Taking A Measurement

1. Once the cuff is properly positioned and you are seated with your feet flat on the floor, you are ready to take a measurement.

2. To take a measurement press the pointer (or other pointed object) anywhere within the center of the touch screen display. The monitor will automatically inflate to 190mmHg. If the monitor senses you require a higher inflation level, it will automatically increase the air pressure to the level that's right for you.

3. You will feel the cuff getting tighter around your wrist - this is normal. It should not inflate to the point of discomfort. If this occurs, the cuff is secured too tightly. Press the screen to stop inflation and rewrap the cuff leaving more room between your wrist and the cuff.

4. Numbers will appear on the digital display. This is the normal process the monitor goes through to determine your blood pressure. Don't be alarmed if you notice the numbers quickly change, or go higher that you believe your blood pressure to be.

5. When your measurement is complete, the monitor will deflate automatically, releasing the air pressure in the cuff.

6. The entire measurement process should take less than a minute. Once the measurement is complete, your blood pressure and pulse measurements will be displayed.

Note: Your blood pressure may constantly change during the course of a day. High or low readings do not necessarily mean your monitor is malfunctioning or that you are ill. It is important to speak with your doctor to learn what your normal blood pressure is and also if you experience related abnormal measurements.
48 Measurement Memory

When you take a measurement the monitor automatically stores it in memory space number one. As you continue to take measurements, the monitor will push the previous measurement back one space. In other words, the value in space one will always be the most recent blood pressure measurement taken. Your monitor will store up to 48 measurements. To view measurements stored in the memory, press the RECALL button on the touch screen display. Continue pressing RECALL to view all 48 of your measurements.
