Blood Pressure Guidelines
Citing new evidence that blood-vessel damage begins at blood pressure levels that used to be considered normal, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) established new clinical practice guidelines for the prevention, detection, and treatment of high blood pressure. The Institute established a new category called "prehypertension" to help motivate people to take action early on to avoid later health problems.
