Can I or my child measure temperature when we have an ear infection or wound?
Generally, ear infections cause considerable pain. Pulling on the outer ear would create further discomfort. It is recommended a measurement be performed in the unaffected ear or at another body site with a different appropriate device.
You should not use the thermometer if the person has an ear infection, or wound, since this could be uncomfortable for the person.
